I think that the greatest progression seen from a songwriter's view happened between the first two demos. We were also a bit more experienced on the producing part, so in general this is nothing but a major step forward from the self titled debut. Just like the last time we didn't know to keep it short, so it became an intro + eight long songs, more than 50 minutes all together. We never sent this to any labels, so again we did it all wrong, as this would have had a much better chance than the previous demo. Since The songs sounded better we decided to re-record some of the songs from the first demo to have them with a better sound. In particular "Valley Of Unrest" turned out to be a little personal disappointment the first time, as the result then was not even as good as the first demo version recorded. This new version brought more justice to the song, while a song like "Solitary Soul", which I though maybe was the strongest track on "Ancestral Legacy", now was the weakest on "Emptiness". The title track was maybe the song that's most far out from the rest, but was a true collaboration. Kjell-Ivar wrote the verse parts, Øyvind did the chorus parts and I made the ending part, while Kjell-Ivar wrote the lyrics. "Emptiness" was recorded in a relativity short time, just over a month. It was mixed in a few hours on a Saturday in March, so that I had it finished for a party that same evening, ha ha. As a whole I rate "Emptiness" as the best demo we've recorded, there are no fillers here. Songs like "Whispering Voices", "Ringer Of Death" and "Cross The Sea" are some of the best ever in the band's history.
