In 1999 Øyvind Rosseland and I bought an 8-tracker, our first proper recording facility. Of course we mandatorily didn't read the instruction manual other than when it was completely needed, so it was a time of try and fail. Still being concidered as novices we started tracking songs for the first Ancestral Legacy demo. A change in name forced itself to happen since the inclusion of Øyvind in the line-up changed the sound dramatically, from melodic semi-necro black metal to more pompous orchestral soundscapes. Mariann Omholt, our former vocalist Elin's sister, suggested the name Ancestral Legacy after a Cradle of Filth lyric. Don't ask me which one...

When we started recording the songs I guess we didn't have any plan on how many songs we were to have on the demo, of that it would end up as a demo at all. Rule #1 in the music business, "demo chapter", is to have only a few songs, two or three, and they should be your best. Here you got ten tracks (+ the hidden song "Seterrock") and a total playing time of almost one hour, so already from the start we did it all wrong, ha ha. We sent it to a few labels but of course none were interested.
